The Election: Why Obama Won

The election was very interesting. However, it was called for Obama very early. Obama won because he was running an optimistic and positive campaign. Obama's party also had to have helped him win. In any election when times are bad, people tend not to vote for the party in power. Also, when times are bad, people tend to vote for the Democrats, because of their better track record on economic issues. When times are good, people tend to vote for the Republicans because of their better track record on social issues.

Obama pushed himself to win states previously unwinnable for Democrats. States such as Colorado and North Carolina were considered solid Republican states, but Obama won them. By pushing McCain into so-called safe territory, they painted the McCain campign with an image of desperation. By doing this, the Obama campaign was portrayed as taking the high road.

Obama ran a unique campaign. He had a certain mystical charisma to him that no one could understand. John McCain was viewed as "just another presidential candidate". In a recent poll released, 76% of Americans believed Obama recieved fair media coverage. A historic candidate
also has appeal to the populace.

Delta Enterprises has issued a voluntary recall on older versions of its cribs after two infant deaths. According to the company, the cribs were made between 1995 and 2007. The cribs apperantly required safety pegs which may have been lost in reassambly. Delta's web site urges consumers to return them if they were made in China before 2006 and used spring pegs. The dead infants suffocated in their cribs. In one instance, there was no safety peg, and when the crib's side detached, it left a gap that left the infant trapped. The other infant died in a similar fashion when a spring-peg failed to lock and a side detached.

Qin Gang, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said the "the [Chinese] government attaches importance to product quality, especially the quality of products relating to children." This statement seems to provide little reassurance to many, especially in light of the recent melamine poisoning of milk, which got thousands of Chinese children sick.
In conclusion, recalls from products made around the world are becoming increasingly common.

The Election:Why McCain Lost

McCain lost because of George W. Bush. When times are bad, people will almost never elect someone from the party in power. No presidential candidate with the letter R in parentheses at the end of his or her name could possibly win in this election with Bush being president during the recession.

Some people say that Sarah Palin is a factor in McCain's loss. Her approval ratings were lower than that of any vice presidential candidate since then-Senator Dan Quayle in 1988. Despite this, Quayle won. However, only 35% of Americans believe that Palin was treated fairly by the media Other people, such as Joe Scarborough, political commentator, say that the election would have been a much more distant victory for Obama without Palin on the ticket.

Demographic changes also contributed to McCain's loss. The youth vote has increased substantially, which hurt McCain big-time. Also, increases in the Hispanic population gave votes to Barack Obama.

It's all about money. Obama raised a grand total of 820 million dollars, as opposed to McCain's measly 550 million dollars. Despite claims, 74% of Obama's money came from large donors (those who donated over $200). Another 48% came from donors who donated over 1,000 dollars. Obama also outspent McCain 3-2 on television ads. Overall, McCain was too bland a candidate.

Global Warming a fraud?

As Mr.Beam (the seventh grade science teacher) says that global warming is a fake and that the ''crazy global warming people''came up with fake facts to make the people of the United states go into a state of panic and because we love to panic. All this time I and among others as well may have thought Mr.Beam was just trying to be funny and was just trying to help us stop worrying about global warming.I and the people who thought Mr.Beam was just trying to be funny thought this up until the day of November 18, 2008 because that day Mr.Beam gave some pretty believable proof and explanations why global warming isn't real.Mr.Beam has convinced me and possibly others that global warming is a fraud and he also explained to us that the it was the ''crazy global warming people'' who made it seem that in October it was getting hotter when it was actually getting colder and he also explained that these ''crazy global warming people'' copied the temperature reports from September and made it seem that the temperature from September where as well the temperature reports for October too. There has also been scientific proof that there is global warming. This topic is very debate able.

History of Maptesting and why we need to take it.

Do you like taking the Map test every year? I didn't.Well not until I found out why we students need to take it.The Maptest helps and confirms what we have done that day it was made exactly for this reasson. The Map Test also helps me study.A few years ago there was a major debate about having the Map Test and not having the Map test. After a half a year about arguing to have the Map test the opposing factor about not having the Map Test gave up and they agreed to allow the students to take it.The bill was passed to take the test and after a while I have changed my mind about taking the Map test because I think it's just the same things over and over again without much of a change.Maybe if the Map test was a little bit more colorful and funnier questions kids will start to like it more.Truely though the Map Test is just a test to help us pass and to see how much information we learned through out the year just like the D.S.T.P except the Map test is alot sooner.

How to cheat on your Test?

A new way was found and posted by many students on YouTube of how to cheat on your test. The most famouse was was posted by a girl named Kiki who talked continuously about how to cheat on your test.YouTube has many fans and it was shown that these videos have been viewed by millions and thousands of fans and had many comments saying that these ways acuatally work and that they have tried them. Now that these ways have been found out nobody knows if the students have cheated or acuatally studied.Kids have been using calculators to punch in the answers and some calculators have internet on them which gives the students access to search for the answers for a test online.Another way would be using M&M's and skittles for answers and to tell their friends about the answers and 1 teacher had picked up on these methods from 10 kids in her classes that day.The teacher was a middle school teacher and 10 kids total that day that have taken the test used these methods and used them. The students also used many other methoods not listed in this article.Fortunitly the teacher picked up on all of these methods and had them kids get a week suspension.

Lying ''War Heros''

On the day when citiziens of the United States honor those who have died and that have been in the war battle field to serve their country where investigated by the Fedural Bural Investigators (F.B.I)where discoverd that hundereds of men and woman posed as phony war vets to get fame and glory from the citizens of America. These phonys look exactly like a real war vet would. They where the same uniform and the badges and medals that are awarded to real war vets are bought at local military stores that are open to the public.More then 200 cases of these phony war veterans where reported in the last year and the number of these phonys seem to be growing because of the two-front war in Iraq and Afghanistan that Americans are fighting.A man in North Carolina said to be a War vet and said to have earned a purple heart and when he was discovered he got put into jail for imitating and lieing about having a military record.

THE CURE FOR AIDS!!!

What is one of the main killers of every one in the world? AIDS of course. Finally! At last we have the cure for AIDS! While an American victim of AIDS was getting a bone marrow transplant, for leukemia, the researchers discovered that 20 months later, his condition was gone! This was basically found by accident! They tried it on another patient and once again, 20 months later, the patient was relieved of all the symptoms of the virus. Some people are immune to the HIV virus. Amazingly, a genetic mutation of both parents’ chromosomes creates this surprising immunity. Doctors are now trying this new method of treatment on their patients to see how the results turn out.

The Ostrich People

Deep in the Zambezi valley, in the continent of Africa, Zimbabwe, the Vadoma tribe lives excluded from the world, all alone from civilization. This tribe is not like any other. They have an extremely rare deformity in there feet that gives them only two, enormous toes. Discovered by Charles Sutton in the 1950’s, this tribe tribe’s chromosomes are mutated, causing such a rare condition. As a matter of fact, they have easily adapted their feet. They can climb trees with ease, and now have special shoes that they make themselves. These people don’t mind there condition. In their minds, they’re completely normal.

BE CAREFUL WERE YOU PUT YOUR FINGERS

In modern day, some technologies are getting very advanced. Some are so advanced that they are able to create vaccines and other helpful inventions. Now, in this day we have a better, more efficient way of detecting people suspected of the consuming of drugs. All that is required is your fingerprint. Ordinarily, accused people of using drugs had their urine tested. However, now the scientists can simply find out by attaches the iron oxide particles to antibodies and suspends them both in a liquid solution, which is then drizzled over a fingerprint. Only if the chemical that the antibodies find is there they will eventually latch on to it, and glow. But that’s not all this new invention can do. It can also detect if the fingerprint was touching a weapon, explosive, or even its medical conditions.

Americans Too Fat

Some Americans today are getting to be too obese. This causes a major issue, and risk to their health. Say an obese man broke his arm, and he went to get an X-ray. He may have too much fat for the X-ray scanners to even get through to his bones. This growing problem, this obese crisis, has been going on for 20 years. Every year, more and more people have been denied scans because of their weight. The UK is sadly following the US. Their hospitals have even made beds stronger for their obese patients. But are the hospitals the only ones helping this obese problem? Airlines are making special planes to carry the more plump passengers. If Americans continue to follow their unhealthy ways, things could get worse. The lack of exercise is one of the major causes. On top of that, fast food restaurants continue to get more popular. Then of course there is the old “I like my body, I don’t care what other people think.” That’s a great attitude, but is it REALLY helping you? Physically, no. One person may not make a huge difference, but it does gradually make the obese crowd a helpless one of America. Leaving the decision to you, are Americans too fat?

Shark Attack!

There’s been a lot of shark attacks in Australia lately. December 27th, 51 year old Brian Guest went missing when he was snorkeling in West Australia. Later on, they found a piece of his clothing, and officials concluded that he was eaten by a shark.
The next Monday another man was snorkeling, and got pulled down and bit by a shark. He punched the shark numerous times, and survived. Not soon after a 13 year old surfer was also dragged down by a shark, did several of the beaches close down because of shark spottings and shark attacks. Michael Brown from Surfwatch Australia has said that in the past few years the counting of sharks has been going up. The still open beaches have been protected by nets that run parallel to the shore so that the sharks can’t possible attack. More and more calls have been coming in demanding to get nets for local beaches.
And even so, some people are afraid to even take a step into the water.
